Day trip to Skopje and the Matka Canyon

Matka Canyon
First, we visit Matka Canyon, one of the most beautiful natural treasures of Macedonia. It is the oldest artificial lake in the country and home to more than 10 caves, including possibly the deepest cave in the world. The lake, combined with the surrounding mountains, is simply stunning to look at. We will explore Matka Canyon by boat. Afterwards, we will have lunch on site.
Vrelo cave
The Vrelo Cave is the deepest cave in Europe and could even be the deepest cave in the world. Since a large part of the cave is underwater, it is not possible to determine its exact length. We will explore the Vrelo Cave and admire its beautiful interior. The lights placed inside create a stunning scene with different colors.
Skopje
Our capital and by far the largest city in the country, Skopje has been inhabited since 4000 BC. Remains from different eras and civilizations can be found throughout the city. Skopje has been destroyed by earthquakes many times, the last time in 1963. Since the city was quite dull after that, they decided to renovate it in 2014—and boy, did they surprise everyone with the end result.
We will explore the city center on foot and see the main tourist attractions. We will visit older buildings as well as newly constructed Baroque-style ones. And we will see statues—many, many statues. To top it off, we’ll enjoy a delicious meal featuring traditional Macedonian cuisine.
Skopje is guaranteed to be the most bizarre capital you've ever seen. You will see Canyion Matka, all the fancy government buildings, Mother Tereza memorial building, the old Turkish bazaar, the major statues an much more.
