After crossing the border, we will first stop for a coffee break in Pogradec, Albania’s only city on Lake Ohrid. You will get your first introduction to Albania and its culture. We will walk around the city and its market. Even here, you will be able to notice the significant differences compared to Macedonia.
Korçë
From Pogradec, we will drive to Korca, a major city in Albania with a rich history. We will take a longer walk through the city, observing the striking contrasts between rich and poor, new and old. Nowhere else will you find such sharp contrasts packed into such a small area as in this city. We will then sit down to eat and rest for a while before continuing our journey through Albania.
And an Albanian village
We end our day by visiting a small village on Lake Prespa where time seems to have stood still. We will visit a granny to see how she lives and hear her story. After that, we will walk through the village to an authentic old house that is now a private museum. Here, you can feel and see what life in Albania used to be like in the past. In this place, you will fully understand why life was so difficult in Albania back then. For some people, life is still this way today.
Beautiful nature
Passing alongside Lake Prespa, we will return to Ohrid from the other side. We will travel through Galicica National Park on our way back. You will enjoy stunning views of Lake Prespa and Lake Ohrid, and we will stop so you can take breathtaking pictures.
